A fine, radiating network of hairline cracks in the gelcoat, most often around fittings, steps, corners and any point where the shell has been stressed or impacted. It is gelcoat cracking rather than structural failure, and by itself it is usually cosmetic.

Delamination
The laminate separating from the substrate behind it, or the layers within the laminate separating from each other. It sounds hollow when tapped and eventually shows as a soft, flexing or bulging area.
