Diagnosing whether a crack is still moving

This is the question that decides the repair. A crack that has stabilised can be filled and will hold. One still working seasonally will reopen through any patch, and needs the movement addressed first — usually drainage, sometimes tree roots drawing moisture unevenly from one side.
